This is our local playspot. There are lots of more serious photos and a guide on the Carlisle Canoe Club website. This isn't really recommended as there is a river-wide line of anti-scour boulders just downstream which are a foot entrapment/pinning hazard. Great fun though.
We could kneel up before we fell off--a real surfer might be able to stand up? (There's a photo of a surfer standing on his board on a wave in France in the Alps picture guidebook.) Anyone tried this at Hurley??
