| I had 6 weeks in Nepal, September to November, after finishing my thesis. Awesome boating, especially the Dordi Khola, Karnali, Bhote Kosi and Kali Gandaki, although my camera is playing up and most photos haven't come out. Perfect flows on every river. Will be back again soon!
Might write more of a trip report sometime, for now check out Jake's blog
Complete river list:
Trisuli x 2
Trisuli trib 1 cumec waterfall mission (didn't go, canyoning rather than paddling...)
Dordi Khola (Marsyangdi trib, first day walked out as too high, second day was awesome but Marsyangdi was MASSIVE at the bottom, too high even to ferry accross.)
Balephi Kosi (good at high flow, not too hard)
Sun Kosi (nice run, glad of high flow as there are long flat sections. Should have gone up from the bottom and done bottom day of Tamur, via new road)
Upper Seti x3 (normal upper Seti, will be back sometime for the upper Seti canyon waterfalls)
Madi Khola
Annapurna Bask camp trek
Lohore Khola (alternative Gd 3 route to Karnali when there's no bus to the usual put-in)
Karnali (awesome big water)
Marsyangdi (good, but another dam will remove most of the top section soon. Still good between the dam and Bhote Odar where the water is removed)
Bhote Kosi (awesome!!)
Balephi Kosi again
Lower Modi Khola (a bit small and rocky)
Kali Gandaki x 2 (awesome playing!)
17 runs, 24 paddling days out of 45 (+1 biking + 6 trekking), everything at perfect flows.
Will be back for more of the monsoon for more high flows, and hopefully one day to do the Thule Beri and Humle Karnali. |
